Guanacaste Fly Fishing is a company with more than 15 years of experience, founded by Esteban Blanco, owner and adventurous local fisherman who wanted to take fishing to other levels in the area.
Esteban achieved the IGFA world record by exploring rivers and lagoons in inhospitable places of Costa Rica. He is the one that organizes all your fly fishing trips, offering unique experiences in fly fishing throughout Costa Rica.
Our company is based in the northern jungle of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. We include all the amenities in terms of equipment and boats specialized for fly fishing. We are characterized by our commitment to service and client comfort, as well as our expertise in targeting specific species.

Fly Fishing Tours
Salt Water Rooster Fish Fly Tour
The Guanacaste Rooster Fly Fishing Tour is spectacular, featuring easy to see, superficial fishing, surrounding islands or large sandbars on the beaches.
Located between 1 hour and 1 hour and 45 minutes from the main hotel destinations of the Guanacaste tour. We use equipment between 9w and 12w to do this beautiful fly fishing.
- Best Season: June to October
- Additional catches: tuna, jacks, needle fish, snapper, and sailfish
- Special feature: Humpback whale watching in September and October
- Includes: drinks, food, transportation and fish equipment
Rainbow Bass Tempisque Fly Fishing Tour
Being one of the few places that retains a good deal of large Rainbow Bass — the legendary guapote — this is one of our exclusive and unique tours in our country.
This trip takes place in the upper parts of the Tempisque river in Guanacaste. We'll complete a 20 kilometer journey floating along on a very calm river of clear water.
- Duration: 6-7 hours
- Equipment: 7-9 wt with floating and sinking lines
- Additional catches: jaguar bass, mojarras, tilapia, and snooks
- Amenities: bathrooms and changing rooms available
Machaca Corobici - Bebedero Fly Fishing Tour
Experience fishing in Guanacaste's lush river reeds in the Corobici river, where the fast and ferocious Machaca fish awaits.
This magical place of murky waters offers a unique fishing experience with the Machaca, known for being a voracious surface eater, feeding on fruits and seasonal flowers.
- Duration: 6-7 hours
- Equipment: 6-7 wt rods with floating line
- Additional catches: snapper and snooks
