The Tour
The Guanacaste Roosterfish Fly Tour is our signature saltwater trip — spectacular, visual and shallow. We hunt roosterfish around the islands and large sandbars along the beaches, where the fishing is superficial and easy to see: you'll often watch the fish's comb slice the surface before you ever make a cast.
The fishing grounds are located between 1 hour and 1 hour 45 minutes from the main hotel destinations of Guanacaste, and transportation is included — we pick you up and bring you back, so all you have to think about is the next cast.

Why Roosterfish on the Fly
Ask any traveling saltwater angler for their bucket list and the roosterfish is near the top. It is a fish that demands everything at once: an accurate cast, a fast strip and the nerve to keep stripping while a seven-striped comb bears down on your fly. When it connects, you'll understand why people fly across the world for this — blistering runs in shallow water with nowhere to hide.
Guanacaste's coastline is one of the most reliable places in Costa Rica to target them, and because we fish sandbars and island edges rather than deep structure, this is genuine sight fishing — the saltwater equivalent of hunting.
A Day on the Water
Your day starts with pickup at your hotel. Once on the coast we board the boat and run to whichever islands and sandbars are holding bait. Expect rotations of casting from the boat as we work the shorelines, with breaks for food and drinks (included). In September and October, humpback whales regularly steal the show between casts. When the tide and light are done, we run back in and drive you home.
