The Story
Guanacaste Fly Fishing was founded by Esteban Blanco, an adventurous local fisherman who wanted to take fishing in this region to another level. More than 15 years later, the company he built from exploring rivers and lagoons in the most inhospitable corners of Costa Rica has become one of the most experienced fly fishing operations in the country.
That exploration wasn't just wandering: it produced an IGFA world record, the kind of credential that only comes from knowing water nobody else fishes. Esteban personally organizes every fly fishing trip, and his knowledge of where fish live — and when — is the backbone of everything we offer.
The Team
We are a fly fishing team, not a one-man show. Four fishing guides and three drivers are at your disposal, so trips run on time, boats are rigged before you arrive, and someone is always watching the water while you fish. Our base is the northern jungle of Guanacaste, and we run trips from here throughout Costa Rica.
